Science
‘Bringing science to life for our young scientists of today.’
At NET, our Science curriculum aims to ensure that all pupils:
- Will be taught the knowledge and skills to provide a secure foundation in ‘Understanding the World’ through the disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics.
- Understand that science is fundamental to our lives and futures, and therefore a core subject.
- Develop their natural curiosity, questioning skills and ability to evaluate the world around them.
- Progressively learn scientific enquiry skills, enabling them to plan, predict, conduct and conclude investigations independently.
At the end of KS2, pupils will be able to:
- Ask and answer questions about scientific enquiry.
- Make predictions based on their prior learning.
- Carry out investigations, make observations over time, identify patterns, classify, research and conduct fair tests.
- Interpret evidence and explain findings using scientific knowledge and technical vocabulary.
We teach conceptually to build deeper understanding over time. Essential knowledge is planned progressively through the NET curriculum, beginning in EYFS and continuing through Key Stage 1 and 2.
