Introduction to the School
Jerounds was opened in 1963 in the old Church of England buildings in Great Parndon. The new building in Pyenest Road was completed in 1964 and took its name from the housing area, Jerounds.
The School Environment
The school is spaciously designed with well proportioned, carpeted classrooms. Each classroom is a welcoming and attractive environment for your child to come to each day. All classrooms within EYFS and KS1 are self-contained with their own craft area, cloakroom and separate toilets and an external door from each classroom leads to a patio area and also to the playground. Foundation Stage classrooms have a dedicated outside classroom enclosed by fencing.
Our school is fully accessible for children with physical needs as we are equipped with two disabled toilets, automated doors within Foundation Stage, access to the school and playgrounds via ramps and in KS2 a lift for access into the hall.
In addition to our fully fitted IT suite all classrooms have interactive whiteboards.
A creative art studio to support specialist teaching of art.
The large assembly halls are well equipped for physical education and also facilitate collective worship, drama, music, concerts and other enrichment programmes.
Outside the school there is a large playground running the length of the school and there are grassy areas to the front and rear of the building. The school grounds are attractive and champion a wide variety of extra curricular clubs.
The Friends of Jerounds continue to raise money to develop the school grounds and ensure an active and enjoyable playtime.
